Matching Sweaters

Thursday, November 8

Hannah Grace loves to wear clothes that match Sarah's clothes. Hannah wanted me to post this photo of her holding Sarah in their matching sweaters. They don't really match but they are both wearing white sweaters.

Welcome Grammy

Sarah Jane was so excited to meet Grammy on Sunday. Hannah, Sarah and I drove to the Baltimore airport to pick up Grammy. We had a wonderful time visiting in the car and Hannah was very excited to tell Grammy about where she would be sleeping. Hannah loves to have sleepovers.
Grammy we are so HAPPY you are here!!

Loss for Words

Saturday, November 3

I don't have any words... the photo above is my younger brother Tom at work. If you are wondering he is NOT a nurse but rather a journalist. He decided to dress up for Halloween. I just hope that others were also dressed up. Moreover, Tom is 24 years old which again explains my loss for words. I wonder what kind of shoes he is wearing? I am also wondering if he now understands the true PAIN of pantyhose?

I will share that in our childhood days Tom and I always made our costumes with Mom. Tom always loved to think up some original idea that would shock others. He wasn't into anything scary, although I am sure that many will argue that after seeing the above photo. Anyway one year we had just bought a new toilet seat and Tom decided that he would use that and be a toilet for Halloween. I wish I had a photo to share!!

Tom we love you!

Halloween 2007

Sarah Jane had tons of fun handing out the candy with Daddy.

While Hannah and Carter went Trick or Treating with Mom, Sue, Chris, and baby Allison. At first Carter wasn't sure about it. The first door we went to the man opened the door and Carter took off running away before he even saw the candy. After about the 4th house he figured it out. Hannah knew that if the porch light was on we should go ring the bell.

After going around our neighborhood the kids changed into sports fan attire for Trunk or Treating. At the church the Awana program had Trunk or Treating which means that people parked their cars in a secure lot and decorated their trunks with sports gear. The kids weren't to wear costumes, but dress up in sports attire or as their favorite Bible character. I did see a Joseph with a hockey stick. The kids just loved it!!

Our beautiful bucket head. Please check out the rest of our Halloween Photos!!

Underpants

Sunday, October 28

Today, Hannah told me that her underpants had a boo boo and she needed to help them. I wasn't sure what to think. So Hannah turned around and pulled at her dress. When I lift the back of her dress I realized what she meant. Yes, she had her first wedgie.

My other favorite comment was when she tried on her new dress from baby GAP. It is a very cute jumper with snowflakes on it. It also came with little bloomers that were attached on the inside of the dress. When Hannah tried the dress on the bloomers were bunched in the front. Hannah started to cry and said, "Momma, I look like a pumpkin" It is just amazing to me that Hannah knew that she looked round like a pumpkin and that it is was not a good thing. Kids figure out every thing. ha ha ha.

3 Turk Ave

We received a baby gift from Uncle Mal and Aunt Kelly on Friday. Hannah, Carter and Sarah loved the gifts, but Hannah and Carter also really loved the box they were shipped in. Hannah decided that she wanted to make the box a house. She has had a blast!! The two kids spent a lot of time coloring the box. Then Hannah added some wallpaper, which you will note in the second photo. They even put a door handle and lock on the front door.

I also wanted to note that now Hannah believes that the brown truck is always bringing her something. When we found the box outside our door Friday Hannah said, "Momma, I think the truck brought me something." I keep trying to explain that they are gifts from our family and friends and the nice man with the brown truck just delivers them.

Hannah's Court

Princess Hannah

Every time Hannah takes off he bow Carter finds it and puts it on. Today, I told Hannah that she needed to take a nap before going to Kacy's house. Hannah wanted to take her new snow white dress with her. So we went up for nap time and Hannah didn't want to go to bed. So I told her that we wouldn't be able to go to Kacy's house. Hannah told me that was fine she would stay home. So I told Hannah that was fine, Carter would go and maybe he would wear the princess dress. Hannah immediately responded, "NO Momma Carter can't wear my dress. He is just a baby and babies don't wear princess dresses." I just laughed to myself that it had nothing to do with the fact that Carter is a boy. Kids are so funny!!
What can I say?? Hannah has Daddy wrapped around her little finger.

Football Season

Daddy loves to watch football with Sarah. Sometimes he even pretends she is the football. She loves it!!

Feeling Better

As most of you know Carter had his first visit to the emergency room. On Saturday morning Grandma made a wonderful breakfast with french toast, but didn't remember that Carter is allergic to eggs. So poor little buddy broke out in hives head to toe, his little face swelled shut and he started coughing. Needless it say it was rather intense. Anyway he is doing great now and goes on Thursday to have blood work done to see if he has any other food allergies.

Why God Made Moms

Monday, October 22

I received this in an email and it made me laugh. So I thought I would post it for everyone else to enjoy!!

Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?

1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other Mom?

1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your Mom?

1. My Mom has always been my Mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did Mom need to know about dad before she married him?

1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your Mom marry your dad?

1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?

1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms &dads?

1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
4. Moms have magic; they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your Mom do in her spare time?

1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your Mom perfect?

1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Dye it. You know her hair. I'd dye it, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your Mom, what would it be?

1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my Mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

Witch Hat Cookies

Wednesday, October 17

Today was a really busy day!! Although I must pat myself on the back because I really accomplished a lot! I got up this morning, which is a huge step with a newborn in the house! I got everyone dressed and out the door to music and dance class. Then we were off to Kmart to pick up a prescription. Yes, I took all 3 kids into the store and it went great. We returned home only to make lunch and head out the door to a doctor appointment for Sarah Jane. Back to Kmart for another prescription. Home to meet the dishwasher man. Although Brian was working at home so he was around in case the dishwasher man came early. Anyway it was a busy day. It is hard to get a lot done when you have to stop and nurse every 2-3 hours and then it takes 30-40 minutes to nurse.

Then tonight my neighbor, Sue, invited Hannah and Carter over to make witch hat cookies. As you can see to the left they are so cute!! Not to mention that it was wonderful to get a break for a while. The kids had a blast as you can see from the photos. Although it took Hannah a few cookies to understand that you aren't supposed to take a bite out of each cookie.

Rubber Ducky

Tuesday, October 16

Yesterday, all 5 of us went to the doctor. Sarah Jane had her newborn check up and the rest of us got our flu shots. It was quite entertaining as Brian and I were cheering and so excited to get our shots. We made it so much fun. The nurse was laughing her head off, but everything went GREAT!! Hannah Grace and Carter got really cool "sprinkle" band aids. Hannah kept pulling up her little corduroy skirt to show everyone her band aid that made her pinch feel better. Sarah Jane weighed in at 7 pounds 6 ounces.

Today Hannah Grace went to school. So I took advantage of the time with only 2 kiddos and decided I would give Sarah a bath. Well to my surprise while I was undressing her and getting her ready for her bath. I cleaned her cord and it fell off. WOW! Not even a week old yet!! Anyway her sponge bath turned into her first tub bath. She loved every minute of her bath. She actually slept most of the bathing experience.

Mute Button

Sunday, October 14

Little Miss Sarah Jane is finally starting to figure out her schedule. I am still not sure how to manage all 3 kids without Brian. I know that it is all going to happen with time, but for now I am feeling like it is best not to go into public where total chaos could be reached!! Yesterday was a difficult day. The kids are all starting to demand more attention and Hannah is very emotional about it. At one point last night I had all 3 kids crying and needing something from me. It was sorta like instant surround sound, only without a mute button. I often think it would be so great if I could just mute parts of my day. Especially time in the car with kids screaming, Hannah singing at the top of her lungs not to mention the constant teasing. Although at the moment our house is so peaceful with sleeping babies and constant football in the background. I must say that Sarah Janie might be daddy's favorite because she brought GREAT football weather with her birth.

First Night

Saturday, October 13

I know that everyone is wondering how the first night went with little Sarah home. Well it was great!! Hannah and Carter went to bed at 9pm. Brian and Sarah fell asleep on the couch and I hit the bed about 11pm. I slept until Brian brought me Sarah at 4am to feed her and then we all slept until 9am. It was a great night!! I hope this continues.

Anyway this morning Brian made us delicious apple waffles!! While Brian was making breakfast I jumped in the shower, but Hannah really wanted to play with Sarah. Not wanting to leave them alone I put the chair (shown above) outside the bathroom door so I could watch them. Hannah asked why I was putting the chair there. So I explained that I needed to see Sarah. Hannah thinks for a moment and disappears only to reappear with a wooden school chair. "Momma, can you put my chair in there so you can see me too?" Hannah asks. By the time I got out of the shower I found 6 chairs in the same area. One chair for Hannah, one for Sarah, one for Elmo, one for baby doll, one for Carter and the list continues.

Another cute Hannah quote from this morning. I noticed that she was wearing her pearl bracelet from Uncle David and Aunt Autumn. So I told her it looked very pretty. Hannah Grace looked up and said, "Thank you Momma. I just want to be a good mommy like you so I am wearing my bracelet."

Well I need to go lay down. I will try to keep posting so you know we are still alive and well.

Welcome Home, Janie

Mom's Best Apple Cake

Tuesday, October 9

For any of you wondering where I have been lately... I haven't had a baby!! My dishwasher is still broken. They came and looked at the dishwasher, but they had to order parts so it will be a while before it is fixed. I have also been loving my bible study time!! I am feeling like a more empowered Godly woman.
So anyway tonight Brian and the kids cut up the apples for me to make this apple cake. I must say that it is the best apple anything I have had. I ate mine with some vanilla ice cream on top and it was wonderful!! I wish I could send samples to all my readers.
